The Anger Workshop

The twenty years that Judith has offered The Anger Therapy Workshop have given her a unique perspective on the process of emotional health and well being. This small group weekend intensive provides a safe opportunity for people who are ready to deal with and express old, repressed or present day emotional material that is hampering their efforts to move forward. In this process, participants work individually with Judith so that you can go as deeply as you need/want to go.

Some emotional wounding requires vocal expression to complete the healing process, and this expression cannot and must not be actually expressed toward the person that is the cause of the woundings. They typically are not in a place to deal with the emotions associated with the woundings. A non-judgmental climate, based on unconditional love and honesty without judgments provides the perfect space for you to get in touch with, express, and move toward release or completion of old, incomplete painful experiences. Then you can move into your life and handle these situations differently.
Participants find that they feel lighter after they complete their emotional release work, and they reduce their anxiety, depression, fear of emotions, feelings of victim-hood, and excessive crying or anger. Participants who have been fearful of other’s anger gain a new perspective and will learn to handle such situations differently in the future.

I want to acknowledge you for being interested in The Anger Workshop because I know that your interest is a tribute to your own personal work, as well as to your courage and desire to go deeper in your personal exploration. I’ve been conducting The Anger Workshop, six to ten times a year since 1981 and have found it to be of tremendous help in assisting people dealing with old emotional pain and trauma.

People often ask what they can expect from attending The Anger Workshop?

In The Anger Workshop we create a safe space to express old anger, rage, pain and tears… to `get it up and out'. It's a highly loving and therapeutic space, without judgement, which allows you the opportunity to re-experience and move toward completion of old emotional situations and stay in your body while feeling and expressing! It also provides a safe place so you can learn to let go of your self-judgements and to love yourself, love all of your aspects, unconditionally, and be less afraid of emotions.

We often forget that we each have physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects. Healthy, balanced functioning in all these aspects is necessary for health and well being, and opening to our fullest potential. Even if we take good care of our bodies, we can create physical problems for ourselves if we're mentally confused or fearful of our emotions. Particpants are often amazed when certain physical and emotional symptoms disappear after they've expressed their feelings and dealt with old emotions which they've "stuffed" into their bodies over the years.

People often ask why it's necessary to work on anger release in a workshop rather than in an individual session. They often indicate they're afraid of being embarrassed about their work. I've found that over the years that people may initially be embarrassed, but that quickly goes away. In fact, participants find the group support to be of tremendous value, and they're relieved to find that others have similar experiences and concerns.

My goal is to create a safe, non-judgemental space of Unconditional Love that assists each participant to do their own work, as well as gain insight from other's work. Observing other people express emotions not only helps you to be less afraid of your own emotions, but also provides opportunities to learn more about yourself from their work. In addition, the intensity of the weekend focuses your attention and energy, enabling everyone to feel safer and safer, and work as deeply as they wish. In every way, working in a collective (group) setting creates a much more powerful space than working individually.

Even though Friday evening can be a stressful time because of the unknown nature of The Workshop, by Saturday the tension is greatly reduced, and by Sunday people often don't even want to go home! Be assured, however, that we do go home! The Anger Workshop is typically full of pleasant surprises for everyone who attends. The stuffed emotion, which you release, becomes productive energy to use in your life.

In addition, we learn not to be afraid of other's feelings, how to breathe and center, and how to understand more of our personal patterning. I view The Anger Workshop as a very important step in personal growth which facilitates our spiritual unfolding, our ability to take the next step in our development, as well as to live a fuller life.

I recommend that you bring a journal so you can write about things as they come up. Writing is highly therapeutic and can aid in the verbal expression in The Workshop. When you write about your own process, you can create inner space for other material to come up.

Workshops are held approximately every 6-8 weeks, with 10 to 14 participants. All of the work is individual work done with me. A full weekend commitment is necessary for participation. Some people "call in well" on Monday morning to give themselves some extra time, perhaps even scheduling a massage or a walk on the beach.

The workshop schedule is as follows:

Friday: Arrive 6:30-6:45 p.m. to begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. until

Completion (12-1:00 a.m.)

Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to Completion

Sunday: 9:30 a.m. to Completion

Although the hours may seem long at first, know that The Anger Workshop is about taking care of yourself on all levels. We encourage you to dress very casually, in layers. Our Center is comfortable, with a variety of seatings available, from pillows on the floor to straight back chairs and couches, and afghans. You can also bring your own favorite afghan or stuffed animal.

We'll have coffee, herbal teas, and nibbles available. You're welcome to bring juice, fruit, etc., as you desire. On Saturday about 2:30-3:00 p.m., we take a lunch break together at a local restraunt. On Sunday, you may either bring your lunch or order out from one of the local restraunts.

As always, I look foward to The Anger Workshop, and facilitating it. It is typically an emotionally cleansing and powerful process. I'm not afraid of your anger or your pain. I believe you'll soon feel safe to experience these feelings. Come, be present, and open to the experience. Leave your expectations at home. We'll have a wonderful time.

I'm a traditionally trained, Licensed Psychologist with extensive experience in a holistically oriented psychotherapy and emotional release. I've been in private practice for over 18

years and prior to that was a Professor at California State University, Long Beach.

Feel free to call if you have any further questions. Mellissa or I will be happy to assist you. I look foward to meeting you and helping you express your feelings.

Namaste,
